Here Kitty, Kitty

As you might have guessed the Christmas Kitten was a big hit at our house this morning. She was named Princess in about 5 seconds. All the other gifts that had been opened were soon forgotten. They held, chased, and petted Princess all day. We eventually demanded that they play with some of their new toys, so that the poor kitten could have a break. The good news is the kitten seems to hadle all the caos well. She is adjusting well, and puts up with a good amount of holding and chasing. Even better she is totaly litter box trained. It looks like she will be a really good pet.

Santa

For weeks I been I have listened to many conversations about when to tell your kids about the real santa. These are always really sad conversations for me but I have always had a hard time putting those feelings in to words. As always my husband is much better with words than I. He wrote a post that is just beautiful. Go check outArthur's post.

The Invitation

Arthur and I got invitations to the Inauguration for Governor Rick Perry. Pretty cool huh! There is an invitation to the Inauguration, a parade, barbeque, and a ball. That's right just like Cinderella, a ball. Arthur and I could be brushing elbows with the Govenor of Texas, and all those other really important people I don't know. Of course it would cost us about a $170 not including hotel stay.

School Out!

I love it when schools out, but the days following Christmas are alway so much more pleasent than those before. The minute the bell rings the kids feel like it's time to open presents. It's enough excitement to make their heads explode.

The Flu

I sent Kase to the doctor yesterday with what I thought might be an ear infection, and he came home with a confermed dose of the flu. The rest of the family was promply sent to the doctor to get flu shot and started preventative medication. Kase is so sad wanting to be held all day while he sleeps and wanting to be held all night while he's awake. So here's to wishing everyone else a healthy Christmas.

It's not to late....For You!

If for some reason your mind went to sleep and you bought or allowed someone else to buy your child an Amazing Alison or Amazing Amanda doll it's not to late. You should right not stop reading this, run to your Chiristmas tree, rip the paper off that sucker, and take it BACK TO THE STORE. We have owned many other irritating toys..... the piano that's constantly being played, toys with hammers used to hit broter or sister, many very loud toys with no off buttons.... but they were nothing like this. I would realllllly like to comit muder on these toys. I mean a few passes with my car should do it.

These dolls are supposed to interact with your child. The doll with ask what you want to do, your child can pick, and supposably they can "play together." The problem is that to work you need to speak clearly and use a set of specific programed words. Children of the ages 5 and 8 DO NOT speak clearly, and think that a doll who responds should do anything you tell it. What happens when you combine the children and the doll; constant screaming. For the past 48 hours the girls have been screaming at the dolls in order to get them to do what they want. I've actually heard no at least 1,000 time more than I've said it.

You can get a bike for the cost of this doll. I'm telling you to get the bike.

Brant Family Tradition

The Christmas before Arthur and I got married my mother in-law bought a cute litte stuffed reindeer so set on her fireplace. Arthur and his sister lived at home at the time and thought it would me fun to hide this cute little guy from Mom. It was so funny watching Mom look for the reindeer that it continued daily throughout the holiday season. Not only has this game continued over the years it has developed rules, he must only be hidden in the living room, and at least a small piece of him must be showing, and no giving any hints. Over the last few year the girls have gotten involved in the hiding. Ally wants to be the best at hiding, and Samantha can't stand it if he's not found right away. My mother in-law plays along everytime, no matter how long it takes her to find it, the reaindeer has been missing for days. He has been hidden in in evey spot you could imagine.... stuffed in the tree, thrown in the fire place, and taped to the ceiling. No matter how many times it's hidden she looks for it with a smile on her face. What a great lady.

Christmas Blunder!

I just seem to be out of touch with Christmas this year. I usually really good with the "surprise" thing, except with my husband, he has some crazy present radar. Anyway this year I just can't seem to hide anything. More than one gift has been discovered. Ally came across Kase's santa gift. If she'd come across any other gift of his it would be fine. She's on the edge of not believing any way, but I just hate to loose all the fun. Worse however is she ran across something that I brought the cat. I mean this is our HUGE Chirstmas surprise. I didn't even deal with it for a couple of days, because I wasn't sure what to say. I finaly brought it up with her thinking I'd insist that I was keeping it for the neighbors or something. Turns out she thought it was for my brother's cats. So now I have to give them a call, so that won't give it away when they open a present for thier cats. I can just see them saying "what are you doing?" We open gifts with my family fist, so if I don't give it to them Ally will know... Guess I'll go get our cat another one.

Oversized Load!

On Friday morning I clean my friend
Jessica's house. She's lives in the country, so I have to drive on a little highway to get to her house. It's not that far and usually no big deal. Today they had one lane closed, and since there are just two lanes a lane had been made out of the shoulder. There were no problems on the way there. On the way home however an Oversized Load was makeing his way threw the constuction area. (It must have completly slipped his mind that he was an OVERSIZED LOAD, an in no way should be driving on the shoulder in a lane he did not fit in!) I mean really who remembers they are driving a huge truck with a house hanging off it. This guy mows over every cone sending them at the cars in the other lane of traffic. I had to dodge a couple on cone and there ending up hitting one. It got stuck under the car, but there was really no way to stop at the time without getting hit by the other car trying to avoid flying cones. It did come out later before I could decide what to do about it. Can I just say I really wish I had his How My Driving phone #....May be someone else he threw cone at got it...

Kase wanted to put every ornament on the tree, but just couldn't quite get them on. He resorted to picking out what ornament he wanted and making his sister's do it for him.

Please Don't....

Please don't bring your children to school if they are sick. Your teachers love your children, but when they don't feel well they want you their mommy. Your teachers love you little ones, but we do not want their colds or chicken pox lookin' rash to come home to our family. I know that you have jobs and things to do. However, I shouldn't have to stay home for work on Thursday because your child got me or my child sick so that you could go to work today.

Should Have Known

Well we should have know eight years ago when Ally's first word was Kitty.....that her life would never be complete with out one of her own. Both the girls have wanted a pet for a long time. We have put off that day for years with the purchase of fish and hermit crabs. The truth as we all know it is they are just a poor substitute for the real live lovable dog or cat. Ally ask very nicely if Dad is still Allergic to cats, and how hard would it be to build a new fence. She continually points out each and every one of her friends that has a dog or cat. She begs to visit the pet store just to look. The breaking point for me was that she gave her hermit crab to her class at school in hopes that if we no longer had the crab surely there would be room for a kitten.

Arthur and I have given in and are letting the kids have a real pet. Samantha would rather have a dog, but due to the many escape routes in our fence Ally wish wins out.
Yesterday I paid a very nice family for a sweet little girl tabby kitten. They have very nicely to keep it a few extra weeks so my kids can have a Big christmas morning surprise. (Arthur's alleries should adjust they have in the past)

Works for me!

We have a lot of family tradition at our house, but this year we are adding a new one. We are going to add another tree to our house. I have a new tree and during the holiday season the kids will make ornaments representing bible stories to add to the tree. For a better idea of this go

4:00 a.m. Alarm!

I am not a morning person. I could sleep until 10:00 easy. However for the last week and a half there has been this little alarm clock in my head waking me up at 4:00 a.m. I just get back to sleep when the alarm goes off. I am sooooo tired this week. It's hard to turn off the alarm when it's somewhere inside your head.

It's Short!

I really had to hold my breath for this haircut. She has been wanting to get her hair cut short for a little while now. After the lice events in our house the girls hair really needed cut. So, today we made the plunge. The girl who cut her hair was kept trying to talk her out of it. We were both nervous she would hate it after it was done. Once we were a said and finished she loved it. I might like a different cut better, but she loves it and feels great about it.

Coming Soon!

We'll it's almost here and I can't wait. My parents will very soon leave their snow covered yard and head my way where it's possible that the air conditioning may be needed. The beauty of the mountain's will be replaced for six monthes my the sweet faces of their four grandchildren. I selfishly would like to have my parents here year around, but am very thankful I get them for six monthes. The kids love their Mimi and Pa, frankly they prefer them to me. Our house is full of excitement waiting the few more days till they get here.

Bad Attitude

Well I haven't posted in a while and the truth to the reason is that I've just been in a bad mood. I've had a ton to do (just like everyone else) Instead of going along about my day and doing all that needs to be done I been tromping around and being grumpy. However, sun seems to be shinning a little more at my house so I should have more to say soon.

I am always tempted to buy those bunches of flowers they sell in the grocery store. I mean how nice is it to have fresh flowers. The problem is I get them home and stick them in a big vase (the one left over from the roses hubby sent), and they just look sad in that big old vase. I have after many attepts found a way to make them look nice. Cut the flowers short and stuff as many you can in a glass.
It takes no talent, and you can use one bunch of flowers all over the hosue. It takes no talent, and you can use one bunch of flowers all over the house. Dittos for Kiddos

It is once again time for dittos for kiddos. For those of you who don't know it is a big kids consignment sell. If you sell items in the sale you get to shop a day before the public, and if you help work the sell you get to shop the sale a day before the consigners. I've been working it for a couple of years, and I really do enjoy it. Each year I am always surprised by peoples reations to the sale. All the items that need to be sold have to be checked in, and each piece is screened for spots, missing buttons, and that kind of thing. They try and keep the quality of the clothes high and weed out anything that is not good. Sometimes almost every piece people have looks brand new, and then some will bring a pile that you return over 30 items. The lights where the sale is held are really good so it's pretty easy to find all the spots. The funny thing is the way people act when their clothes are rejected. The are the who Dittos been there done that Pro's that aren't stressed about it at all, and just accept that it is part of the process. Then there are Dittos Princesses who can't beleive you'd dare rejected their items. I mean their precious little one wore it who cares if it's covered in maker. Next is the garage sale goup who you could sell most of there at a garage sale for a quater and they want more than they paid for it at Wal-mart. People are so funny, it's really funny to watch people's reactions.

Yuk!

Yesterday my oldest was sent home from school with lice. I have nothing to say to this but Yuk! 5 out of 9 kids in her class were sent home. Just thinking about it makes me itch all over.

Busy Times!

Just like everyone else we are back into full swing of things that come with the busy days of school. Thankfully though, I have once again found the light at the end of the tunnel. Some very big projects are finished (or almost), we have some rain and cool weather, and I have a sick child at home demanding some down time at home. I've spent the last days getting ready for dittos dittos. I love dittos, but it takes a lot of time and is a lot of work. The cool weather is nice, but tomorrow is water day at school and I hate for the babies to miss it. We have a lot of fun days at mother's day out, farm animails, holiday parties, and stuff, but they all usually really love water day. Some of the kids could care less about the halloween party, are scared of the animal, so I hate for them to miss water day. So, my hope is it will warm up for a couple of days.

1. The juice bar is closed until further notice.
2. There is a big leak in the ceiling, and it's not raining outside.
3. You are the only one to show up to Yoga class.
4. 6 out of the 7 spinning bikes are broken.
5. The guy at the front desk is asleep.
6. The hot tub has been drained and marked off with caution tape.
7. You can hear and see crickets while you work out.
8. The spinning classroom is used also used as a storage closet.
9. Sometimes the instructors don't get their paychecks.
10. The news announces that the gym is closing and there are no longer any classes.

Isn't He Smart

We've had this stool in our bathraoom since Ally's was Kase's size so that the kids could reach the sink. Kase is however the only one smart enough to carry it all over the house in order to get what ever it is he wants that he can't reach. You better keep an eye on your coke. The scary things is other than coke the main thing he is interested in, is the stuff cooking on the stove. I may have to hide the stool to keep him from getting burned. (I know that sell some sort of child safety cover, I may have to find it)

Homework

Tomrrow will put an end the the first week of school. Both girls had a great week. Lunch was only left at home once. (it happened to be the day Ally wanted to eat at school, so I wonder how accidental it was) All in all it's been a really good week. Ally has had a lot of fun, her teacher believes into easing into the work. Ally had special cookies at school, lots of playground time, and art time. However, her favorite time of the week was when Samantha had homework. Ally just about did a victory dance all over the house. It didn't matter that Samantha's homework was short and sweet. All that mattered was that Samantha had it and she didn't.

What a Good Sunday

Today was Ally first Sunday staying back in the first grade class. I was really nervous about it. I was really afraid that she would really be upset when her freinds movined on without her. Good News, it didn't even seemed to bother her. She seemed perfectly happy.

My idea today has to do with packing lunch for school. It seems that everytime I go to make the kids lunches all the food I bought at the store has been eaten and there is nothing left for lunches. I placed a basket in the top of the cabinet, and when I come home from the store I place all that I need to save for lunch up in that basket. The basket is on the top shelf so it's pretty much out of site, and everyone know the items in this bag are not for snacking. I even go ahead and seperate chips into seperate ziplock baggies. I also place the fridge items in the bottom drawer. It's less likely to be eaten if it's not seen.

Mexican Beauties

Aunt Befry went to Mexico and did a little haggling. She brought some beautiful dresses and wreaths back for the girls. She also brought Kase what she calls a "dirty old man shirt." Samantha picked up this little nick name and told people at church that Kase was wearing his "dirty old man shirt." I was glad they did not tell this to any "dirty old men" who might own one of these at home.

First Grade

Well we've done it. After a lot of agonizing we have decided that Ally is going to do the first grade again. Reading just isn't coming for her. We worked on it at home this summer, and she is attending speech, but all that just doesn't seem to be helping. Staying in fist grade at school doesn't really bother her too much, because a she was with that class just a very short time. Church is the hard part. She has a group of really good girl friends at church that will move on without her. She could move on up, but I think it would be harder when that group moves up to sixth grade. She also has really stuggled with going to Sunday school this year. I'm not sure, but I think class may have been hard for her.

Healthy Eating

Today I'm going to share what I do with my kids to encourage healthy eating. First we go to the farmer's market. I give them a little money to spend and they can pick what ever fruit or vegtable they would like to buy. I have had to figure out how to cook some vegtables that I've never eaten before, before if they are willing to try it then so am I. They love to shop at our local farmers market.

Second we have snack trays in the fridge. Each kid has a muffin tray. (one that you would cook muffins in) I got them at the dollar store. In each slot I put a different healty snack, and one less than great snack. They can eat the treat first if they want, but there will be no more until the healthy snacks are gone. I do pick healthy snacks that they like.

Third, we keep small water bottles in the fridge. One bottle full of water must be drank, before they can have any other type of drink (juice or whatever) I fill the bottle right back up and put it back into the fridge. Once they drink there other drink they have to have another bottle of water. Because the water is easy for them to get to and they can get it on there own sometimes they never get juice at all.

Work out

At the beginning of the summer my very sweet husband won a gym membership in a poker tournament. Knowing that I wanted it he gave it to me. I talk my friend into joining with me and for the most part we've been going pretty regular. The last few weeks I been out of town, the baby's been sick, and blah blah blah. So, today was my re-commitment day. I was up and across town for my six o'clock class. When I got there the guy at the front counter was ASLEEP. The funny thing is I just assumed he was laying his head down. I mean who sleeps at work where everyone can see! So, I think I woke him up, and it made him mad. After class when I went back to the desk to get my keys he glared at me, and didn't get my key for me. I had to go behind the counter to get them myself. Now I don't mind getting my keys, but it's kinda behind the counter and all the other workers will walk from across the room to get them like the don't really want you behind the counter. It was so funny everyone in class was talking about him. Now the gym is open all night so, he'd probably worked all night so I sure he was ready for bed, but he was out.

Nerd?

I got this from Rocks in my Dryer. I am "probably" cool. I'm pretty sure in high school and college I was NOT cool, not even probably. Does that mean that coolness can increase with age?

Coolest Pa Ever!

The one thing my Dad did before we got to their house this year was build the kids a fort. It is really cool. He built it out of logs from around their yard. (they basically live in the middle of a forrest) Dad even added a log table with log stools to sit on, shelves and another log table to store things. Mimi added play food and dishes, a table cloth, and flowers. The girls just loved it. This year it was a cute tea party house. In a few years when Kase get a little older I'm sure it will be converted into a war hidout. Dad even put each grandkids first inital on the front of the fort. Lots of fun memories were made.

How do you like yours?

Recently on our trip to colorado we had a marshmellow roast complete with smores. The funny thing is almost everyone liked their marshmellows roasted differently. I like mine lightly toasted brown, Samantha likes hers "smoked" (the fun of holding it over a fire without any melting of the marshmellow), Ally to just wants to catch hers on fire, Arthur likes to see how long he can cook his with out it falling off into the fire, my mom likes them nice and burnt, and my Dad like to toast it lightly and then burn it at the end. No matter how you cook them they are yummy to eat.

WFMW

The kids in my family are very fair skinned. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much sunscreen we'd use they could still get a sunburn. I've tried all kinds of sunscreen, but I finally found something that works. Bullfrog sunscreen, and it comes in a spray. They sell it at Wal-mart and it works great on there little fair bodies.

Canoe?!

I know that it's not exactly a canoe, but my scrapbook friends and I decided it was really close. I took a very nice scapbook trip with some of my girl friends at one of the girls lake house. The conversation of The List came up. While we were sharing items on our list I mentioned canoe. My Lake house friend said I have a blow-up one. So, we cut the scrapping short and headed to the lake. It was a little harder than I thought. (The rowing thing) For a minute I thought I might have to get out and swim back to shore. I did get the hang of it after a little practice. So, thanks to everyone who shared their own list. Good luck to checking those items off.

The List

I've been out of town for a little while, so I obviously haven't posted in a while. But, today I need your help.
I have a friend who is at a bit of a crossroads in her life. She is sort of learning who she is, because she's been living other people's wishes. She has a very good christian counsler...who has given her a "get to know yourself" assignment. She ask me to do it with her, and I did. The assignment is make a list of things you'd like to do, (or just to try and see if you like it). Well we got together today to share our list and she only has like FOUR things on her list. She's needing a little help guys. So I thought I'll share my list with you guys and you could share some of your own with me and I pass them onto her. (she not discovered to magical world of blogging). So either share some ideas in comments or better yet, make your own list post it on your blog let me know and I'll link you.

Just so you know my list isn't in any kind of order.

Things I'd Like to Do:
1. Get my eyebrows waxed- I know; I know I should have be doing this on a regular basis. I've thought about it often but just never done it.
2. Take cake decorating class: Someone else is going to have to bake the cake.
3. Have friends over: I always mean to but I never do (Steph. you and yours are first)
4. Go to the Drive-In movie: (Jessica I know you invited me a million times, next time I'm saying yes)
5. Learn to make some ethnic food
6. Have one on one time with my kids: you know like date nights other people do it and I think that's so cool
7. Pick berries- you know like from a field, some many people I know did this a kid (I did not grow up in berry growing land)
8. Spend time at the beach
9. Go back to Las Vegas: I have already done this, but there so much to do & see we didn't do I thought it still qualified to make the list.
10. Snorkel
11. Go to Europe: I should probably pick a country, but I just couldn't narrow it down. I figure if I ever make it to any that should count.
12. Get re-connected with old friends: There are some really great people I've lost touch with

Things to Remember

When driving a rental car and going to Wal-Mart there are a few thing to remember when leaving the store.

1. First you should remember that you are driving a rental car.
2. Obviously remember where you parked. This is more important because it much harder to find a car you can't really remember what looks like.
3. Which brings us to 3, remember what the car looks like.
4. Try not to make it look like your a bugler when you are checking out multiple cars to see if it's the one you drove to the store.

If you just can't remember these don't forget to take you 7 year old with you, because driving a rental is just the coolest thing, so she knows what it looks like.

Happy Mother's Day

A few weeks ago the first graders in our church recieved a bible for completing second grade. My daughter was in that group. She is so proud of her new bible. Nana even made it a more exciting event by taking Ally to purchase a new bible cover. She still very proudly gathers her Bible (with very fashionable hot pink cover) each Sunday morning. She has other Bibles, but this one is special to her. I have really enjoyed watching her excitement, reading and enjoying her Bible.

We have a lot of Bibles in our home. Many different translatiions. We are so blessed to have such easy accsess to the Lord Word in our country. My Bible is one I have had for many years. It proudly wear my maiden name on it's front cover. While I do like this Bible for a couple of years now I've wanted a smaller Bible to carry with me to church. (mine's a big heffy study Bible) Although I wanted a new one I just couldn't didn't know what I wanted; what translation, what size. (so many choices) So, a few monthes ago while reading a a local preachers blog I discover a relativily new translation. After doing some reseach I'm excited, because I know what I want. So, for mother's day I make my request. Hubby is excited (doesn't have to come up with a great gift on his own) Mother's day comes and I get an IOU. Nobody in town sells this new translation, and I wanted a "cute" cover so if you order it you really don't know what you are getting. This is still what I want though so, I sit back and wait for our trip to Dallas later this summer.

Well today is Happy Mother's Day to me. While shopping for father day gifts I find my Bible. It the right version, size, and it's so cute. The funny thing is I am so excited about it. I mean we have to have 15 bibles in our house. They are all God's word. Well, silly or not I'm feeling a little first grade proud of my Bible

Warm spot!

A warm spot is always something to be avoided in the pool. It's just a fact, people pee is the pool. For some reason all bathroom standards go out the window when the pool is involved. As a mother I encourage my kids to take that five minute break and truck it to the restroom. I'm sure if they haven't already they will at some point pee in the pool. Another reason to ignore bathroom standards is if you are male. Men and boys pee many times where ever they stand. (OHH to not have to squat) Bushes, and trees are often "watered" even when a bathroom is available.

Tonight while we were at the pool both of these came into play. On the side of the pool their was a small family; mom, dad, and son. A Dad encourage is small son (maybe 3 years, out of diapers) to finish up peeing on the sidewalk right by the pool. When his steady stream finished he encouraged him to go ahead and finish it up a little more. No rush to make it to the bathroom, or even the grass. Once he finished up the mom dunked him in the pool to rinse him off. (not the showers that are provided a very short distance away) While they did rinse there son off in the pool they made no attempt to rinse the pee off the sidewalk.

Girls, might want to wear those flip flops next time you go to the pool, he pee right in our regular spot.

Works for Me!

It's time again for WFMW! I like to try new recipes, but once I find a good one I forget about it; if it's left in it's original book. I take all the good recipes I find and put them in one place, so that I don't haave to flip threw lots of books to remember what's good. The book that I have is actually a picture album. The kind that you slide pictures in. Make sure you get the large picture size, mine has two pictures per page. You can fit small or large recipe cards or just pull out magazine page and put it in there too. Mine is actually form Hallmark. It is actually made for this with dividers and everthing, but it's more expensive and you could easily make your own. Happy Cooking!

An actual virus!

I think Kase actually just had a virus this time. Samantha and Arthur woke up with it in the middle of the night. Usually it's the big kids giving the little one the germs. I guess he's just paying everyone back for all those colds. Pray that Ally and I stay well. Our summer swimming is realliy taking a hit.

Vacation?

In short, I think I need a Vacation from Summer Vacation. One week of summer down and we hardly even made it to the pool I've been so busy. It looks like this week Kase will keep us home. Most of you know Kase has a "bad tummy." Although we really don't know what's wrong with him he has diareah very often and throws up less often. This week it's both. Tonight we went to RED ROBBIN. (for those of you who don't know kids eat free on Sunday night) Anyway Kase has green diareah out his diaper, puddled in the high chair, and down his legs dripping on the floor. Needless to say the money we saved on free meals went to a very big tip.

Works For Me!

I don't have the kind of pots and pans where the lid fits nicely in the pot so that they stack. To keep my cabinet neat I have all the lids in a clear box that I can slide out and find what I need. I do the same for items on the top shelves of my cabinets. I would never be able to reach the indivual items without a stool, but I can pull a basket off the top shelf and return it easily. I keep like items together like all drink mixes in one basket and baking items in another. It's not much but it works for me.

Gone Fishin'

We went camping for the first time on Thursday. We had a great time. The girls loved it. Ally caught eight fish and Samantha caught 5. How great is that. We went fishing and caught fish. The girls caught more fish than Art and his brother. Uncle Joel came with us. Everyone should have an Uncle Joel to take camping. Joel knows all the names of the animals. (I mean really knows) For example that's not just a frog it's a cricket frog. He spent the whole time explaining to the girls what things where, and how they lived. We even had some nosey racoons and saw an armadillo. (Samantha calls it that Texas animal)

WFMW!

One Finger is my idea for today. This will only be good for those of you with very small children. This idea came about because of small fingers and the christmas tree ornaments. When our kids were very little (about 9 mothes or a year) they just wanted to touch everything. So, instead of just saying no we teach them to touch with one finger. We just show them how with our hands, and once those gurbby little hands head towards something they don't need to hold we just say one finger. It allows them to touch without breaking anything. They are happy they got to touch, and we are happy that nothing is broken.

A funny thing happened on the way to the pool!

Today was splash day at pre-K. There were kiddy pools, a giant water slide, water guns, and bubbles. One thing for sure ACS knows how to party. While watching my 5 year old having the time of her life I sat on the sidwalk also watching bubba; my one year old. I was trying to keep bubba out of the sun so we were sitting over by the classroom in the shade. This one little boy (We'll call him Ethan) came to the classroom door and put his had on knob and stopped. I thought Ethan must relise he needs to tell the teacher he's leaving the area. A few kids next to him were painting with water and paint brushes. This painting very much intrested Ethan. It must have occured to him that he had totaly been missing out. HE MUST PAINT RIGHT NOW. So, he just pee-ed right there on the sidewalk, and started to paint along side the other kids while standing in his pee. Somethimes I guess there is just no time for the potty.

Good Day!

I did something today that I haven't done in years. First let me say I am a summer girl. I love shorts, hot days, and the pool. I could live in a region where there was no winter and be perfectly happy. I have a friend who live just outside of town, and just bought a small above ground pool. So, she and I enjoyed the pool while our KIDS WERE AT SCHOOL. We layed, and floated with no splashing, no whinning, no demands from little people, and it was so great. What made it even better even that we had worked out at the gym and I'd cleaned some at the house, so I didn't even feel guilty about it.

Winding Down

As the school year ends the summer begins. I love summer. We got just a litle taste of it at our house today. Today was the first day the pool was open. So, we gathered the pool supplies, lathered sun screen on everyone, and headed out to the pool. We always make our first visit of the pool short; just to get back into the grove. We were there a little over an hour and everyone Except the baby fell asleep in the car on the way home. The good news is that the baby LIKES the pool. As the last days of school wind down with programs, splash day, and pool parties we welcome the slower sunny days of summer.

Banished!

Baby boy is banished from the bathroom. This kid is obsessed with the bathroom. We are all missing our toothbrushes, and the toilet has been stuffed with everything we own. This room really is his favorite place to play. This morning when I shut the door so he could not get in, he cried and cried. Now getting the big kids to keep the door shut....that will be a challenge.

Works for Me!

It's time for
WFMW! Today my idea is short and sweet. We love the summer at our house, but without school the days can run together. My kids begin to constantly ask what are we doing, when this is, and when that is. It can just drive me nuts! So, at the start of summer I print the kids calendars off the computer listing all of our pre-planned summer activities. I alway put Sunday church on it because we do that every week and it helps them to understand how long the weeks are. These calendars belong to them so they can mark off the days that have already happened. It helps them to know what is going on, without a million questions for mom.

Sleeping Children!

I love sleeping children. Since my kids were babies I have not only watched them sleep, but held them while they slept. To this day I crawl into the top and bottom buck and snuggle the girls while they sleep. To me this is one of those things that makes it all worth it. The baby on the other hand is just not into mommy's peaceful little moments. You lay a hand on this kid while he is sleeping and tells you to back off. I am really missing these sweet baby moments. Maybe he'll grow out of it soon.....

Dirty Little Secret

Our dirty secret is our garage. Well maybe not a secret but it sure is dirty. My job at YCW ended last week and I have two weeks before the girls get out for the summer, so I've decided to clean it out. This is not a one day job. About 20 people stopped to garage sales through my belongs. I did expect this, this is not my first attmpet at cleaning out the garage. (there was a huge amount of things in my yard) What I didn't expect was that after I told them I was not having a garage sale that they would continue to look through my things. That they would not just go away... I had to tell several people more that once, not so politely I was not having a garage sale so they would leave. One little old lady told me I needed to put a sign in the yard that I was not having a yard sale. Even after this conversation this little lady felt the need to check out the kids toys. Many of these people wnated to have long conversations. Don't these people get when them baby is down for his nap you have work to do. So what do you think do I need a I'M NOT HAVING A YARD SALE! sign tomorrow?

Fresh Breeze

Last night I attended a high school baseball game in another town. I went with a friend of mine, and we sat among the teens. It was sort of like a fresh breeze listening to them. I feel like I'd forgotten the days when a song was old if it had been released 6 months ago, the dress for the up coming party is sooooo..... important, and this game that we werer at is the single most important game of their lives. These gals were Totaly seniors; no need for mom or dad. It was fun to be among all of that energy, and it was also just a little eye opening.

These young ladies have so much freedom. We were in a town two hours away and two of these girls drove on their own. One of these senior girls drove home by herself in the dark.

This young girl was responsible; in that she left the minute the game was over. She is also a very smart young lady. I am still saying as long as my girls are still in high school they will not drive long distances at night, by themselves.

So, Tell me am I just overprotective?

They Stink!

That's how you know for sure the Hermit Crab is Dead.... I think Samantha's crab has been on it's way out since we brought her home. We burried Sally last night in the dark in our pajama's. Ally donated her very large stone she decorated in Sunday school for the headstone. The girls were up this morning praying over their lost love one.

Works For Me!

Here is my Works for Me: My 1st grader had a lot of homework this year. She spent more time whinning about it than doing work. I tried candy treats for each amount of work done, but then she was eating way too much candy. So, I got a big jar, and for each task completed she gets to add a marble to the jar. Once the jar is full she get a bigger treat, like dinner at chuckey cheese or a fun time at put put. (It takes a while to fill up) Homework time is much better in our house.

Burried Alive!

Yesterday, Samantha and I were cleaning out the hermit crab habitat. Her crab was not moving and would not come out of it's shell. Her crab has always been a little bit shy, but if you touched it's little legs it would at least wiggle some. So, we decide it's dead and we needed to burry it. It was a very sad moment for Samantha including tears. I set it ontop of the counter, to find a box. When I came back she was crawling away. Sally is now back in her habitat hiding in her shell. Anybody know to tell if a hermit crab is dead? I really think her crab is on it's way out.

Third Rock

If you haven't been to the Third Rock ice cream shop you should try it out. The ice cream is similar to Cold Stone. (with the mix-in's)They have a cinnamon ice cream that's just great. We have a deal at our house that on days that you bring home a spelling test with an "A" everybody gets ice cream. They have a patio that the kids like to sit on. I have to admit I thought it's a little warm to sit outside, maybe I can talk them into the cool air conditioning of the inside. There however was no need. They have mister's (like six flags, so we have a very cool and plesant ice cream day. The also have outdoor heaters in the winter, and a movie screen to watch movies on. It located on Judge Ely next to subway.

30 Something

The last of my college friends are turning 30. As I talk to my friends so many of them are not where they thought they would be at 30, and feeling a little lost. I guess there are just certian birthdays that make you reflect. There are many goals that I wanted to achieve by 30 that I haven't, but I have also changed what I want in my life. Some of those goals I still hope for the future, and other I have let go and no longer want. Are you where you want to be?

Bad Luck

Somedays I think my one year old has a big case of bad luck. At 15 monthes he has had 2 CT scans, 1 sonogram, 3 x-rays, his stomach scoped, blood drawn, been bitten twice, poked in the eye, had a hospital stay, and a trip to the ER. For the most part he just seems to be sick All The Time. Today we went to the doctor just had no say this kid just can't stay healthy, so what is worng with him. When we left we more answers that when we went in. He may have some trouble with absorbing his food or a dietary problem...Wait, watch, and see.

Lost and Found

The babies can once again sleep in the nursery. Today while at the church I ran into one of our cleaning staff, and ask if he had seen a mattress any where it shouldn't be. He said that there had been one in a classroom, but moved to the alcove in the gym where many lost and found items are placed. (can you imagine placing a baby mattress in the lost and found) Thanks to who even they are. I considered placing a note "this is not yours so do not touch." Of course then I have to put that note on every item in the nursery.

Lasting Friends

Yesterday was Arthur and I were married 8 years ago. To celebrate we went to dinner (Copper Creek) and a movie. We saw Failure to Launch. It's was very funny, but I could have done without the old football guy's naked butt. Anyway, there was a group of women laughing and enjoying the movie along with everyone else. Once the movie was over they stood up and I realised that they were my grandmothers age. I really thought these ladies were so sweet together out enjoy each others company with a funny movie. I guess because it something my Grandmother would never do. She mostly stays home, and ventures out very little even though she is able. It got me to thinking that I want to be an out on the town Grandma....

Borrowing

As the nursey director at our church I know all too well that people "borrow" things from the church, somethimes never to be returned. I use the term borrow instead of steal, because my hope is that their intent was to bring it back soon. Many items I've found in other rooms in the church, probably taken to entertain children while mom or dad works. I've had toys, blankets, and teaching materials just walk away. Rooms have been left in such a mess that you can walk through them. Food has been left ground into the carpet. It makes me sad what little respect we have for our fellow members who must replace these items and clean up the mess. I understand that we all feel like this is "our church" and people feel they everything belongs to everyone. Well two weeks ago I had a new item go missing. It's a first for me, and a little surprising. The mattress to the baby bed is gone. The truth is we don't us the bed a lot, maybe a few times a month. I mean who can sleep with all the toys and noise. The bigger problem is it leaves the metal wires undreneath exposed for little finger to touch, and little arms to get stuck. I just have to ask who takes a babies bed, and think it okay to do. I'm still trying to hope that ther is a really good reason....

Bible Teachings

One thing Samantha is truely blessed with is excellant bible school teachers. She has been coming home from church full of bible stories, and wonderful crafts. On the way out of the building tonight the girls were sort of teasing and poking at each other. Not really mean spirited; but just joking around. As they are bantering back and forth Mantha yells out "I'm sacrificing you, I'm sacrificing you" Now the good parent and me would have stopped and explained how this just was not a nice way to play, and why. I just did not go down that good parent road, instead I laughed.

Laundry

Have you ever spent an entire day doing all of your laundry, and felt so good as you folded the last piece and put it away? Did you then think if everyone could just strip down naked and stay that way for a while the laundry would truely be done?

Abilene Christian

When Ally got to school this morning she was vibrating with excitment. I thought she might drive her teacher crazy before they even started. When I picked her up she'd had a great day. Ally said they had played on the playground, played bible tic tac toe, and worked. Most importantly I needed to sign a permission slip so that she could jump in the jump house tomorrrow. It was a great day!

Last Day at Taylor

Today was Ally's last day at Taylor and it was filled with good memories. She got a prize from her teacher and tutor. (A sparkly my little pony and a book) All of her friends were sad to see her go, and told her that they hoped she would return soon. One little boy did tell her she shouldn't go, because he was positive that ACS had way more homework. She is brimming with excitement to begin at her new school.

The Big Move!

Tomorrow will be Ally's last day at Taylor elementry school. On Monday she will officaly start at Abilene Christian. We have been struggling with Ally and school since the begining of the school year. After lots of prayer and thought we think this is it. So tomorrow she will say all of her good-byes. Right now she is making a good-bye card for all of her classmates and teachers.

Things are Crabby at our house!

It's offical Ally and Samantha are pet owners. Today we purchased two Hermit Crabs, and all of their housing needs. They are not a puppy, but so far they have created much excitement at our home. Ally named hers Hello Kitty, Winks, Kit, Kid, and right now we are using blue. Samantha has named hers Sally. Ally's is very active, and just between us I hope Samantha stays with us. It pretty much stays in it's shell and doesn't move. I'm hoping he's just a little shy. None of them were out of thier shells at the shop, so I guess we just lucked out with Ally's. Of course that is if we can keep it in it's cage, I caught it climbing out earlier. I'm hoping I do not wake up with a crab in my bed?

There might be a light at the end at that tunnel!

Many of you know that my oldest daughter is having some reading stuggles this year in first grade. We have met with many people over this and had problem getting her the help she needs we are finally getting some progress. More importatly tonight while practicing Ally read three short new books on her own without any help. This is such a triumph for her. Paise God, we may be making baby steps but we are surely moving forward.

Going Dutch

Last night my brother and sister-in-law took my three children out for and evening of fun at the magical Chuckey Cheese. My husband and I took the opportunity to eat out on our own without the need for crayons, high chairs, and ten trips to the potty. We went to a local steak place and had and enjoyable meal. When it came time to pay the young waiter guy ask us if it would be needing one check or two. We both just laughed and told him one. I don't think we have ever been asked that, even when we were dating. So I ask you are we so young looking that we look like we are dating. Or, so old that we look like we are dating again.

Ride #2

We loaded up once more and headed to ACU to ride bikes. Samantha only crashed about 7 time, and ran one jogger, and one couple and their dog off the track. At least she stayed out of the ditch.

Night Time Ride

Yesterday I spent all day promising that the girls could ride thier bikes. However, by the time we got home and had dinner it was dark. I had promised at least six times, so out we went. We decided to do the new walking track at ACU since it was so dark. It proved to be an adventure. Ally, having just conquered no training wheels needed to be in front of everyone with no obsticles in sight, including other walkers and riders. Samantha is just a crazy driver. She pedals as fast as she can, but her eyes are anywhere but looking where she is going. She crashed no less than 10 times, she even fell in a ditch. She also regularly ran into Ally, Kase, Mom, Dad, and anyone else in her path. The funny thing is nothing fazed her. She was in a ditch up to her waist, and just got out and kept going. I fear the day it comes time to hand that little one a set of car keys.

Sometimes you need to let go.

This sping break I made the goal to dedicate the time to teach Ally to ride her bike without training wheels. It's not that I thought she couldn't do it before now; I just haven't set aside the time to do it. So Saturday we got started. I got a lot of exercise that day....running, holding,and starting over. I assumed this would be a week long process. Yesterday while I went to the store Arthur had the girls outside while he did some yard work. By the time I got home Ally was riding her bike all over the place. Without me their to hold on to her she got up the courage to do it on her own. If I'd had been here we would probably still be running up and down the street. Sometimes Mom just needs to let go.

Lent

This year I have decided to participate with all the good catholics and give up something for lent. My good friend Nikki has done this for several years. I felt inspired by her, so all I had to do was decide what to give up. I have done lent before succesfully and not so... I thought something small, and then I'll for sure make it the whole 40 days. Somehow that just doesn't make much of a sacrifice. Ido plan to make it the entire 40 days, but even if I don't it should be about the sacrifice. Those of you that know me know that coke is my biggest addiction. I have offically been coke free for 6 days.

Children's Pastor's Conference

I just returned home from the the CPC in Kasas City. It was a wonderful trip. It was wonderful to listen to excellant speakers. Two of my favorites were Lisa Wechel (Blair from facts of life), Jose Vistor Dugan (florida preacher), and many more. The most effective speaker was a man by the name of David Ring. David was born with Cerebral Palsy and lost both of his parents by the age 14. It story was heart breaking. Do to the cerebral palsy he walked with a limp and had a did not speak well. He gives God credit for his beautiful family, ability to speak all over the counrty telling people about Jesus, and his ability to overcome medical expectations. He was an amazing person. He also put everyone of us their in our place. When someone with struggles like his stands up and says I can't even say the word Jesus plain, but I can make a difference. What are you doing. It makes you look at you life a whole lot closer.

Rain

I am really thankful for the rain, because I know we need. I do also enjoy h0w everything is washed clean, and the fresh smell. As an adult though, I often just see the rain as an inconvience. As most mothers know when you have kids and it rains you are going to get much wetter than everyone else getting the kids in the car. It can be hard to drive, and can make things cold. However this morning driving to school, I listened to the kids pure joy over the rain. They knew it would cancel their playground time, but they didn't care. The slightest chance that they "might" get to carry and unbrella is worth it. A few weeks ago the local weather man can to Ally's school. She decided she was now going to be a meteorologist. (Like at the begining of school she choose teacher, and after the nickel an author) She spent every dime she had on a thermometer and rain gage. Today was her first measurable rain. It is a monumental day in the world of a child meteorologist.

Bedtime Surprise

Last night as I was getting ready for bed in the bathroom my very sleepy oldest daughter came in. She came in as I was washing my face, turns the water on in the bath, pulls her pants down, and sits on the tub. I ask her what's she doing, and she says going potty. She then pees in the tub. Sleepwalking or just really sleepy? Who knows....

Doctor's Watchful Eye

For now Kase seems to be doing well. His fever is gone. He has developed a small ear infection. Right now the doctor wants regular updates on Kase's health. For now we are not doing any test. He seems to be feeling good.

CLEAN CAT SCAN

I got the call Kase's Cat Scan is totally clean. He is still running a fever, but it's not quit as high. If he still has it on Friday we will need to do blood work. It's been a long day waiting, but it was worth the wait to get such good news.

Test Anxiety

I decided Kase just has test Anxiety. He just doesn't test well. We've probably done seven or eight different kinds of test over the last week and they have all been negative. Kase dose not have RSV and his flu test was also negative. Today we will do a CAT Scan at 4:30. We will not get any results until tomorrow. Thank you so much for all of your prayers. For now please keep them coming.

Kase just can't get better

Kase is no longer throwing up. Good new...I hope. He now seems to have either the flu or RSV. Probably a nice little gift from the hospital. He's had over a 103 fever for 3 days now. We will try and visit the doctor in the morning. This little guy is really just haveing a rough time. His second year of life is just not starting out so great. Good news though I got a new camera and found the people who hit my car.

Home Sweet Home

On my way home my camera got broke, my car had been hit by a hit and run, and the internet didn't work when I got home. We are however still very thankfull to be be home. Kase did not throw up last night. So the "theory" is that he has acid reflux and the prevacid he has been taking is working. (I say "theory" because the doctors made it pretty clear two days ago that they didn't think that's what it was) We did not have the Cat Scan instead we came home. Kase is so glad to be home and be rid of the IV. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prays. Please continue to pray that this is really over. One of the nurses said that they have kids all the time throwing up and they never figure out what's wrong, and the kids quit only to start up months later.

Cat Scan tomorrow

The scope from this moring did not show any object in Kase Tummy. The doctor took sample from Kase's somache to be tested. (I do not know when we will get those results) If Kase trows up tonight he will have a Cat Scan tomorrow to see if there is any swelling in the brain.

Kase will have a scope on Wednesday morning at 9:30 at Hendrick. The are some risk. (although rare) Pray that Kase will be safe and that there is an object that can be removed on the spot.

Still No Solution

The results from the X-ray last night did not show anything. They are going to do another X-ray tonight at a different time and hope for another result. If that X-ray is still negative I think the next step is to scope his stomach. They would be looking for some swallowed obect that doesn't belong, or a stomach irritation of some kind. So that's what are next few days look like. For now we are settled in for a stay. Dr. Sudde wrote orders for us so that we could go outside today. Kase was so happy. He is getting so tired of this room. He's taken to yelling at the door if it's left open because he wants to go out. The IV has a short battery time, so it was a short little trip, but emotionaly very good for Kase. It was warm and the breeze was so nice. Everyone said it's so windy, but we just loved it. Being told he had to come back inside was not so pleasent, but I think now that we back up and he over he feels a little relieve from his cabin fever.

Update

I'm really tired so I hope this at least makes a little sense. The specialist came to see Kase late this evening. He think Kase may have swallowed somthing he shouldn't. It's common that it not show up on the x-ray. Tonight he took another x-ray after kase threw up, to see if he could see something. If not they would use a scope to look.. At this point I have no idea about removal or if this is even what this is. If it's not that a cat scan may be the next step. Thank you so much for your prayers. Please keep them coming.

A night in the hospital.

This morning Kase was admitted to the hospital to be hydrated with IV fluids and have blood work done. The blood work came back with a high platlet levels. It could be the sign of an inflamation in his intestine. We really still do not know what's wrong with Kase and are just still waiting. We will speak to the doctor somtime tomorrow morning. Thanks so much for everyone that is praying. We are so blessed to have such a good group of christian friends.

Waiting for the phone to ring.

Why is it that when you are waiting for the phone to ring it never rings? First thing this morning I took Kase to get an X-ray of his abdomen. That was about 8:30. I spent the rest of the day waiting for the phone to ring with the results of that 20 minute test. ( It probably would have taken 5 min. but Kase just wasn't into it) Kase is really feeling bad today; making the wait that much longer. At about 5:15 the Doctor's office finally called with basically no information. The X-ray was clear and we need to come back in the morning probably for lab work. We have a wonderful doctor, but I guess when you have a little one in pain the "system is just frustrating." Why is it that "someone" out there know the x-ray is clear at probably 10:00 in the morning and I can't get the knews until dinner time. Thanks for the prayers.

X-rays for Kase?

Kase has been having tummy trouble this week along with some other symptoms. We took Kase to the Doctor this afternoon, and he gave us some medicine. He told us that if he wasn't better by morning he would need an x-ray. He feels pretty sure that it is not a virus. One possibility is an obstruction. Please pray that everything with Kase is Ok.

After developing a complete addiction to my friends blogs, I have decided to start my own. Mostly I plan to share with my family and friends about my children. I have three children Ally (7), Samantha (almost 5), and Kase (1). So here it goes. A few weeks ago Samantha was in Bible class listening to a bible story. While sitting there she took her shoes off. The teacher got ready to move to another part of the room and ask her to put her shoes back on. She told her that she was practicing for "Holy Ground."
